Sophia Bush Biography

Sophia Anna Bush was born and raised in Pasadena, California to Charles Williams, who is well known in advertising and celebrity photography and Maureen, a photography studio manager.  Bush was very athletic as a young teen, in high school she earned a spot on her school’s varsity volleyball team, it wasn't until she graduated from The Westridge School for Girls where she found an interest in acting.  Like a lot of girls born into the upper-middle-class suburb of Pasadena, CA, the French-Canadian/Italian beauty caught a whiff of the Hollywood air just down the road and the rest is history.  After graduating from Westridge in 2000, Bush attended the University of Southern California (USC) where she admitted into the drama program, she majored in journalism and also minored in theater.  The 2000 Tournament of Roses Parade Queen was also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  In 2002, the 20 year old Bush scored her very first movie gig; she played the part of Sally, a seductive college freshman who harbored a huge crush on the male lead in the comedy Nation Lampoon's: Van Wilder.  Less than a year later, the beautiful young actress had small roles in the TV series Nip/Tuck and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, she was cast as the lead in Terminator 3 but was replaced with Claire Danes when the director said she looked too young.  In 2003 she was casted as a feisty cheerleader and temptress named Brooke Davis in the CW network series One Tree Hill.  She left school to work full-time on the series, which paid off when the show proved to be a huge hit. The show is one of The CW network's biggest hits and is exported all around the world.  In addition to the professional success that the show brought her, the program also featured Bush's onscreen romance with co-star Chad Michael Murray which soon turned into a real-life love affair. In the spring of 2005 the two love birds tied the knot but after just five months of marriage the two separated and eventually divorced.  In between working on One Tree Hill, Bush has been cast in many films, such as Supercross, Stay Alive, John Tucker Must Die, and a remake of The Hitcher.  She was even Punk'd by good friend and John Tucker Must Die co-star Brittany Snow courtesy of Ashton Kutcher and the popular MTV show.  Sophia has been recognized by both Maxim magazine and FHM as one of the top 100 sexiest women in 2007 reaching as high as #24.  She reached as high as #3 on the Much Music 20 Hottest Women of 2004 and #15 on Femme Fetales Top 20.  She also appeared on the cover of Maxim magazine with One Tree Hill co-stars Hilarie Burton and Daneel Harris in 2006.  On top of being absolutely irresistible and incredibly gorgeous, she is very intelligent, sophisticated, and she's a great role model for girls of all ages, she is involved in a non-profit organization called the Millennium Development Project, which seeks to reduce poverty and protect the environment.  In the last 3 years, Sophia has been nominated for 6 different awards winning 4 of them. She took home the Rising Star Award at the 2007 Vail Film Festival; she also won Choice Movie Actress in a Horror/Thriller and Comedy for her work in The Hitcher and John Tucker Must Die at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards.  Her most recent project is scheduled to be released in 2008; she plays the part of Kathy Popovich in the upcoming film, The Narrows.
